Dog Thrashed to Death by Guards of Society’s RWA in Greater Noida

Noida: The Greater Noida police have booked unknown guards and Resident Welfare Association (RWA) members of an upscale AWHO Gurjinder Vihar society in Beta 2 about a happening where a stray dog was allegedly beaten to death on March 4 night.

The incident was caught on 45 minutes of CCTV footage of society’s Gate 2 that has been retrieved by the police. Based on the information available, the guards beat the dog as directed by the RWA. However, the charges were denied by the RWA president.

At Beta 2 police station, an FIR was filed under the IPC’s sections 34 (common intention), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 429 (mischief by killing or maiming animals), and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act after a complaint from a society resident who also feeds the dog.

The resident stated in her complaint that a cab driver saw the society’s guards beating a black dog on Sunday. When the cab driver also tried to interfere, the guards told him the dog had turned mad, she added.

Moreover, the complainant searched for the dog but couldn’t find it anywhere. “Police have been instrumental in getting the footage of around 45 minutes (based on the time provided by the cab driver) where the guards can be seen thrashing the dog with sticks,” she stated.

The complainant said that the guards often beat the dogs in society by the order of RWA. “I have been feeding dogs in society for the past seven years. The dog in question was sterilized and vaccinated by the Greater Noida Authority,” she mentioned.

However, the RWA president of the society, Pushpendra Kumar, denied the allegations and claimed they were “false”. He said, We never ordered guards to “kill a dog,” and he also added, “There are 45 stray dogs inside our society. We will fight the case legally.”

According to the SHO of Beta-2 police station, Vinod Kumar Mishra, “an FIR was registered and an investigation into the matter is underway.”
