Dog Finally Gets Adopted Through Social Media After No Inquiries for Months

At Virginia’s Stafford County Animal Shelter, a dog named Sky was rescued in November but didn’t get any adoption inquiries until a plea was posted by the shelter regarding the dog on Facebook.

Sky, a 3-year-old dog, finally found its forever home this week after her post went viral on Facebook.

It arrived at Animal Shelter in November and hadn’t received any adoption inquiry till Feb. 27.

On the other hand, other of its canine friends got their forever families, but she didn’t receive attention from visitors.

“No one has sent an email. No one has called about her. No one asks to visit with her. We have posted her multiple times … Still nothing,” shelter mentioned in a Facebook plea with Sky’s image on Monday.

According to Joe Bice, the captain of the Stafford County Animal Shelter, Sky was the longest-term resident of the shelter. Potential adopters are usually overlooked because Sky doesn’t need any other dog in the home.

On Monday, the Facebook post by the shelter stated that Sky is excellent with people and “a wonderful companion.” It “just needs a chance,”.

The post received more than 60,000 shares and around 5,000 comments, in which the shelter featured a photo of Sky in its kennel.

“The phone has been ringing off the hook all morning, a ton of messages and so many we can’t even get back to them,” Bice said about the response they got after the Facebook post went viral.

Donna Crowder, who inquired about Sky on behalf of her young son Joseph, adopted Sky within 24 hours.

Crowder said, “We have been in the market for a dog, and when they said she was good with kids, I said, ‘Ok, I will make the drive,”.

“It happened!! It finally happened!!! Sky was adopted !!! We have received more inquiries than we could respond to, so we apologize if you were left unanswered. We are hoping this answers all your questions and make your day!” On Tuesday, the shelter posted an image of Sky with its new family and announced the adoption.

“Thank you so much for making the drive to us to take this girl home. Good luck, Sky !!!,” Stafford County Animal Shelter mentioned in their post.
