A three-year-old dog, Rusty, an Australian terrier, travelled around 1500 km across Australia in a truck after his family went on vacation without him.
The dog, Rusty belongs to the Scudamore family in Goondiwindi town in Queensland, Australia. At the time, the Scudamores were vacationing in Caloundra, little Rusty was missing his family. So, he ran out of his house looking for them.
During the journey, a truck driver found Rusty and took him back home with the help of it’s tag. His tag had the number of the Scudamores’ in-laws on it.
The family said Rusty had previously travelled 230 km away from home.
“Last time we went away he hitched a ride to Chinchilla. He’s really upped the ante this time making it all the way to South Australia. I get sent photos everyday of him being pampered … he just loves being in the middle of all of the attention so this is just suiting him down to the ground,” Linda Scudamore told Australian News.

Scudamore said that on next vacation, we’ll probably take Rusty along. Which he was hoping for all the time probably. Being a dog is rough and dangerous for him.
“The kids miss him and we’re expecting twins soon so are keen to have him home before the next amount of chaos happens,” Linda said.
Say hello to Rusty the hitchhiking dog.
