Delhi To Get CNG-Based Pet Crematorium by April 2022

In Dwarka Sector 29, a CNG-based cremation facility for pets and small animals will be established, making it the first of its sort in the city.

According to a report by Indian Express, the cremation facility will be functional by April, according to the head of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s house, Inderjeet Sehrawat. Two CNG-fueled pyres will be installed at the crematorium.

These pyres will burn deceased small animals weighing up to 30 kg for 30 minutes. According to Sehrawat, the crematorium will be environmentally beneficial because it will run on CNG.

The crematorium will be built on a 10 public-private partnership (PPP) model. Through an open tender process, the ‘Green Revolution Foundation’ was chosen to lead the project.

According to a news release from the SDMC, the Green Revolution Foundation will cover the whole cost of the crematorium’s development, maintenance, and management.

It has been built on seven hundred square meters, and construction has commenced. The facility will be ready by April 2022, according to the tender.

Sehrawat disclosed that the cremation of small dead animals weighing less than 30 kilograms, such as pet dogs, cats, ships, goats, pigs, and so on, will cost Rs 2,000, while dogs and other small dead animals weighing more than thirty kilograms will cost Rs 3,000.

The cremation of stray dogs brought from areas under the control of the SDMC will be conducted free of charge. In addition, the cremation of stray canines brought from another location will cost Rs 500.
