82- Year Old Man Builds A Temple In Memory Of His Dog In Tamil Nadu

Throughout history, dogs have been friends with not only common folk but also rulers. In the Melur district of Madurai, it is still believed that the Kanchivanam god was accompanied by a dog.

As a result, a statue of a dog may be found in the shrine of the Kanchivanam temple. As a result, dogs have long been a popular pet among Tamils and people all over the world.

It’s no surprise, then, that humans create memorials for their best buddy. At his farm in the Sivaganga district, a retired government employee has created a temple for his late best buddy, a dog named Tom. Muthu (82) is from the Sivaganga district’s Manamadurai area.

He shared over 11 years with Tom, a lab, until the dog died in January 2021 due to health concerns. Following this, the old gentleman decided to build a tiny temple in Bramanakurichi, near Manamadurai, for his late companion. He used ₹ 80,000 of his savings to create a statue of his pal who had passed away.

Muthu used to think of Tom as a member of his family. On Tuesdays, Fridays, and other holy days, pujas are done at the Tom temple, along with meals and flowers.

Even though he is battling health issues, the 82-year-old is now paying tribute to the dog monument with the aid of his children. The statue, which was erected with the help of Tom’s photographs shot by Muthu’s sons and relatives, was unveiled in January of this year.

Muthu believes that by doing so, he will be able to keep the link he had with his pet and best friend, Tom, forever.
