70 Dogs Rescued from Flooded Properties in Newton, Mississippi

The Newton County Sheriff’s Department responded to a distressing complaint about a property in Newton, Mississippi, under the care of an animal rescue organization, Second Paw Dog Rescue.

The dogs on the property were allegedly being neglected and exposed to the elements for an extended period. The information was conveyed through a statement from the BISSELL Pet Foundation.

Upon arriving at the location, the sheriff’s department discovered numerous dogs chained to trees, confined in cages left outdoors, and roaming freely amidst the debris-covered, flooded property.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, the Newton County Sheriff’s Department sought assistance from Animal Rescue Corps, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to safeguarding animals, in rescuing the dogs.

The joint efforts of local animal rescue teams, volunteers, and concerned citizens ensured that all 70 dogs were safely evacuated. The rescued dogs were brought to Animal Rescue Corps’ Rescue Center in Gallatin, Tennessee. They received thorough medical examinations, vaccinations, and any required treatments for existing health problems. They further intend to collaborate with their rescue partners to find forever homes for each of the rescued dogs.

Local authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the abandonment of these innocent animals during the crisis.
