7 People Allegedly Poisoned A Pet Dog In Amritsar

A bizarre incident of animal cruelty has come to light, where 7 people allegedly poisoned and killed a pet dog (Pit bull) in Amritsar. As per report, they offered him eatables laced with poison. The Amritsar rural police have booked all the 7 people in this case.

The  seven accused identified as Rajwinder Singh, his brother Balwinder Singh, Santokh Singh and his brother Angrej Singh, Jodhvir Singh, his brother Kuldip Singh of Bhakha Hari Singh village and Navjot Singh of Sudhar village.

The complaint was lodged by the owner of the dog Mr. Sahibjit Singh, a farmer. He is a resident of Bhakha Hari Singh village. He alleged that to keep his cows and buffaloes safe, he had kept a pet dog which was poisoned and killed by seven people.

Police registered a case

The police registered a case under section 428, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC besides section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty towards Animals Act.

Paramvir Singh, SHO, Ajnala police station, said it was a bailable offence. He said the complainant had a verbal duel with the accused over a land dispute. He saw the accused committing the crime. He said the post-mortem of the dog was conducted and further investigations have been initiated.
