US Coast Guard Rescues Injured Dog Stranded on Beach in 90 Minutes

In an incident that unfolded in the United States, a German Shepherd faced a scary situation after tumbling off a cliff and sustaining injuries, prompting a rescue mission by the Coast Guard. According to the Coast Guard, the dog descended approximately 300 feet down a cliff, finding itself in an inaccessible area of Cannon Beach. The cliff’s height was equivalent to that of the Statue of Liberty.

The distressed dog was spotted sitting on the rocky shoreline as waves crashed around it, desperately hoping for a savior. The canine tried to locate higher ground but was left with only a small patch of dry land. The gripping footage further revealed the deployment of a rescuer from the MH-60 Jayhawk, who courageously swam through the rough sea to reach the dog. After reaching there, the rescuer carefully placed the dog in a litter to be lifted to safety.

The video documenting this remarkable rescue was shared on Twitter via an account named USCGPacificNorthwest. As depicted in the video, the grateful dog lowered her head onto its rescuer’s shoulder while both were hoisted back into the aircraft.

The heartwarming conclusion of the video showcased the joyous reunion between the dog and its owner, who expressed gratitude to the rescuer for his valiant efforts. Remarkably, within 90 minutes following the fall, the German Shepherd was reunited with its owner and promptly taken to an emergency veterinarian.

Before the incident, the dog had accompanied its owner on a walk along a trail within Ecola State Park when the unfortunate fall occurred, leading to its landing in a remote area of Cannon Beach. The Coast Guard Air Station Astoria informed the New York Post that reaching this section of the beach required rappelling down from a hiking trail.

Fortunately, the military has reported that the dog is in excellent condition and is expected to recover from her injuries fully.
