Sniffer dog worked with Vishakhapatnam Police passes away

Andhra Pradesh, India: Ruby, a Labrador retriever, who was working with the Vishakhapatnam District Police was a sniffer dog. It served the police force with distinction for nearly 10 years. The dog passed away on Wednesday night due to health issues.

Police officials in the district conducted a parade and offered floral tributes to the Ruby’s mortal remains before laying the dog to rest at the AR Grounds near Kailasagiri hill on Thursday.

The dog was working with the polica department since 2012. It was specially trained at the Integrated Intelligence Training Acadmeny in Hyderabad to detect explosives, which was also one of her core strengths and was helpful during many VVIP Programmes.

Deputy Superitendent of Police R.P.L. Santhi Kumar expressed his grief over Ruby’s death.  “She was treated as a family member of the Rural Police department. She can never be replaced and her death is a huge loss to the police force.”

Ruby has taken part in a number of security operations during the visits of Chief Ministers, the Prime Minister and other VVIP programs, like rendering service to Road Opening Parties or ruling out the prospects of explosives at meeting venues and public places.

The DSP also recalls that Ruby had won laurels for the department by showcasing its skills in a number if State-level and Range-level police duty meets.
