Senior Dog Rescued With 100 Pellets in His Body In Orlando, Florida

Orlando, Florida: In a recently reported incident, an Orlando senior dog was rescued with over 100 BB pellets in his body by Seminole County Animal Services.

The senior dog named Teddy was in bad condition when the Animal services first rescued him on July 27. He was weak and taking time to recover. They feared to put him for public adoption as they believed that he would wound up placed outside the house, a lifestyle that resulted in him ending up in his current condition.

They called Rebecca Lynch, who is the president of Poodle and Pooch Rescue in Orlando. She came to pick up Teddy. It was hard to get Teddy into her car with him weighing over 72 pounds. But she understood that an abused dog might not like being transported in a cage. So she hoisted him herself, and Teddy seemed happy to receive the help.

Lynch said, “from the minute I picked him up, he just kissed my face all over. He’s a big Teddy bear, and his name really suits him.”

The staff at Poodles and Pooch noticed that Teddy was limping, and his movements were really slow. They suspected arthritis and conducted an X-ray, which showed multiple birdshot pellets under his skin. They found BB pellets all over his body, from his head, stomach, legs, everywhere. He was lucky not to suffer any eye damage.

The team speculated that it might have been some cruel kids or a mentally ill adult who could have done something like this. However, this was like torture, and it has been happening for quite a while.

“Despite his condition and someone who was very unkind to him once upon a time, he is just the most trusting and loving, sweet soul,” Lynch says.

Happy Ending On The Horizon

Thankfully, the bad times are over for Teddy. Now, he has been welcomed into a loving foster family. Teddy spends time indoors with his new dog mom and dad, his two human siblings, another dog, and a cat. His new foster mom said that Teddy likes to sleep upstairs with the family but has difficulty coming down due to arthritis in his legs. However, his foster dad helps carry him downstairs every morning, and Teddy loves the attention.

Teddy is ready for adoption. His medical reports are awaited so that his new family can understand all the medical conditions they need to care about when they adopt it.

An ideal home for Teddy would be people who stay most of the time at home as he loves a cozy and homely environment and does not have the stamina to go for long runs outside. He will be a perfect fit for someone looking for a giant teddy bear to hug all day.
