Fairfield Area Humane Society Helps A Woman Fostering 120 Dogs In the US

A  non-profit organization, the Fairfield Area Humane Society helped a woman by taking care of her 23 dogs in Fairfield Area Humane Society in  Vinton County, US.

The Executive Director of the Fairfield Area Humane Society, Corey Schoonover,  said, he received a call from a woman about needing help with her dogs. He thought there would be 30 to 40 dogs, but they found at least 120.

I was expecting the worst,” said Schoonover.

“It’s not one of those horror stories that you see on TV with dead animals, and just living in their own filth, and starving to death that’s not what this is.”

Schoonover said that is not the case.

Actually, the woman needed help because her husband died in May and they both were taking care of the dogs together. But after his death, it was difficult for her to foster the dogs alone.

Her situation became worse when the number of dogs increased.

“It started as a good deed, and dogs were getting dumped.”

He added it had been going on for years. Now, these dogs are looking for a new home.

He said the facility can only hold so many dogs. So until the ones here get adopted, the rest will remain on the property.

“We’re making sure they’re being taken care of where they are and as people come adopt and we get these dogs placed we will go get another group.”

Now, they are working to get 10 dogs adopted.

To help speed up the process up, the Fairfield Area Humane Society is cutting the adoption fee in half for all dogs excluding puppies. Schoonover says it’s the best way to quickly get these dogs a new home.
