Dog Saves Owner’s Life in Dramatic Encounter with Speeding Car

A remarkable video that emerged in 2022 showcased the heroic act of a dog as it courageously pulled its owner away from the path of a car traveling at speed exceeding 100 kilometers per hour. The footage recently resurfaced online and continues to astonish viewers with its powerful portrayal of loyalty and bravery.

The incident occurred in West Yorkshire when Kimberley Bridges, accompanied by her boxer-staffie named Orla, was out for a walk. As they strolled along, a 4×4 vehicle suddenly veered to the left while turning on the road, narrowly missing Bridges, who stood only a few feet away from a nearby gate.

Fortunately, the 35-year-old emerged unscathed due to the swift response of her canine companion. Orla instinctively tugged on the leash tied to Bridges’ wrists, pulling her out of harm’s way just as the Toyota Hilux careened off the road and onto the sidewalk. The dog’s quick reflexed and decisive action played a pivotal role in preventing a potentially disastrous accident. The video recording depicted the black car whizzing past Bridges with mere centimeters to spare as it accelerated around the corner at a speed exceeding 100 kilometers per hour before mounting the pavement.

Recalling the incident, Bridges recounted the terrifying moment when the car collided with a traffic island before crashing into another vehicle. “I was frozen in fear. All I could perceive was this big truck hurtling towards me. I thought, ‘There is no way I will survive this.’ He was driving recklessly,” remarked the 35-year-old, as quoted by DailyMail in 2022.

“If it hadn’t been for my dog quickly pulling me away with the leash secured around my wrist, I would have been in grave danger. Even so, I felt the wing mirror graze my backside. If I had crouched down, it could have been a fatal blow to my head. The car sped by in a blur and vanished, leaving behind the sound of a woman’s screams as I tried to catch my breath. The initial victim, whose car was spun onto the sidewalk, fortunately escaped major harm. Had it occurred just thirty minutes later, the pavement would have been teeming with schoolchildren,” she added.

In a separate incident from 2022, another dog was captured on camera, heroically shielding a 6-year-old boy from an attack by a neighbor’s aggressive dog.
