Dog saved from death by social workers in Kottayam, India

A stray dog wandering in the vicinity of Kottayam Medical College and Arpookkara was found last week in a pathetic condition. The dog had sores all over the body with one ear severely injured. The dog was caught by social workers, with the help of Jayakumar, a dog catcher.

Ettumanoor Senior Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Biju and Jayakumar were asked to catch the dog when someone informed them about the dog’s condition. They took it to the Ettumanoor Veterinary Hospital, where they found the fur of the dog completely tangled and falling out. Within few days, the dog’s body turned black, and he ended up not being able to eat anything and was attacked by other dogs.

The right ear of the poor dog was injured. It is a pet dog and, it was abandoned by its owners when it got infected by a disease. The dog is expected to be seven years old.
