Corpn Launches Campaign to Tackle Stray Dog Issue

To tackle the issue of stray dogs, the city corporation has initiated a comprehensive month-long campaign encompassing all 100 wards. The civic body has collaborated with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to capture stray dogs, with the assistance of corporation employees, according to an official statement.

The main objective is to capture an average of 30 to 40 dogs per day. Once captured, the dogs will be transported to 60 designated camps established at dog shelters. The dogs will undergo sterilization surgery at these shelters and receive vaccinations against rabies. After observation, the canines will be released back into the same location from which they were apprehended.

To address concerns related to stray dogs, residents are encouraged to reach out to the sanitary inspectors of their respective wards to lodge complaints. Additionally, they can contact the NGO Prani Mithran at 9944434706 or the Humane Animal Society at 9366127215 for assistance.

As stated by another official, the issue of stray dog menace has been a prominent topic of discussion in zonal-level councilor and corporation council meetings. The civic body will remain committed to effectively employing available resources to mitigate this problem.
