A Dog Missing For 12 Years Reunited With Owners in California

According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, a dog that had been lost for 12 years was reunited with her family.

On Feb. 10, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a stray dog that had been abandoned on a rural farm outside Stockton, California.

According to the sheriff’s office, Animal Service Officer Brandon Levin rescued the dog, who was apparently old and sick.

After being examined, it was discovered that the dog’s name was Zoey and that she had been missing since 2010 in Lafayette, California.

According to the sheriff’s office, Zoey had been absent for so long that her microchip manufacturer categorized her as “dead” in 2015.

After being reunited with Zoey, her owner Michelle said that they got Zoey from a shelter when she was only 6 months old. The dog was with them for 6 months, and one day, while they went shopping, the dog went missing from home.

After discovering that Michelle had kept the very same contact details for over a decade, officers were able to reunite Michelle and Zoey.

Michelle and Zoey were reunited at some point, but it’s unknown when. On Friday, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office announced the reunion.
