Molly was missing for 4 years until she turned up right on the doorstep of her owner living in Rowan County, North Carolina. Molly’s owner, Joel and Carolyn McDonald had already accepted that they would never see their pet again after searching for her over a year.
It was quite a pleasant shock to Joel when he saw Molly greeting him at his front door last week.
Return of Molly after 4 years
Firstly Joel was unsure whether it was their Molly or not. As 4 years is a long time in dog years and it can be hard to identify a missing pet after such a long time. However, the dog acted like their old pet Molly, resting her head in his lap, licking his face.
To confirm his suspicions, he took the dog to the Animal Care Center of Salisbury to check for the microchip that he and his wife installed on Molly. After a quick scan, Molly McDonald’s information popped up on the screen and it was clear.
“We didn’t ask him his name or anything. I looked down and I said ‘We got a number!’ I looked it up in the computer and said that’s your Molly,” said Terry, a shelter employee who gave Joel the good news.
It is still a mystery where Molly has been in the past 4 years but her owners are just happy to have her back at home, where they can focus on making up for four years of missed affection and care.
