A dog named Ares has found a permanent home in Florida with a familiar face. The Alachua County Animal Resources & Care shelter recently posted on Facebook that Ares was initially found tied up at a local dog park. It was adopted by a “dear friend” of his original owner after the second caretaker died.
Identified only as Tierney, this individual was shocked to recognize Ares in a photo shared by the shelter. The original owner and Tierney had lost contact with the pet and moved on, but when Tierney saw the picture, they rushed to the Gainesville location to confirm Ares’ identity through old photos. The reunion, captured in photos shared online by the shelter, shows Tierney happily embracing Ares.
Eventually, Tierney decided to make the reunion permanent by finalizing Ares’s adoption, ensuring he would never be without love again. The circumstances surrounding why Ares was left tied up after the owner’s death and how that owner came to possess the dog from Tierney’s friend remain unclear.
