Adopt Indian dogs: PETA India’s new campaign

Right before Independence Day, PETA India has placed billboards at Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Delhi. The location of the Delhi billboard is at Minto Road Crossing, towards the New Delhi Railway Station.

The PETA India Senior Campaigns Coordinator Radhika Suryavanshi says, “It is irresponsible for anyone who thinks to buy or breed animals when there are already millions of homeless Indian dogs and cats languishing on the streets and in shelters.”

Each time someone buys a ‘foreign’ purebred kitten or puppy from a pet shop or breeder, the native animal loses a chance at finding a loving home. Community cats and dogs on the streets often starve or are abused, injured, or hit by vehicles. Countless others are often left to languish in animal shelters because there are not enough good homes for them. It is the reason why PETA India urges and advocates the guardians to have their cat and dog companions sterilized.

Many celebrities like Imran Khan, Dino Morea, Trisha Krishnan, Raveena Tandon, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, and Madhuri Dixit have also come forward to urge their fans to choose adoption of community dogs and cats by working with PETA India.
