The funds demanded by Panchuka MC got the approval last Wednesday, 11 July 2018. Panchkula MC submitted a funding request of 3 crores that is required to get the project rolling. Rajesh Jogpal, MC commissioner confirmed that they have received technical sanction for the work from the authority and in a process for commencement of the project on the designated location.
“The administrative approval of the work amounting to Rs 3 crore has been accorded subject to financial irregularities,” the letter read.

“As the funds are approved we will now float tenders for the project. The main motive of the centre will be rehabilitating stray dogs. The centre will also focus on managing canine behavior with the help of consultants,” said MC commissioner cum-administrator Rajesh Jogpal.
The location chosen for the center is spread over two acres, which will be able to accommodate 500 stray dogs at first and later increased to 1,000 in a phased manner. The center is going to have two major wings including:
- A rehabilitation facility with a dog play area
