People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India rescued two sick and injured Pugs from inside a car that was forced to live in poor conditions in Mumbai.
The dogs were found lying in their own urine and poo and were also fed in the car. Both the dogs were found suffering from serious health issues; one has a serious ear infection and other has a partially healed fracture on one of his legs.
According to PETA, the young owner’s parents refused to allow them inside the home. When we rescued them both the dogs, they looked dull, depressed and tired.
The owner voluntarily surrendered the animals for veterinary care and rehabilitation and pledged not to repeat the same in the future after being warned of legal consequences of keeping the dogs in such cruel and illegal conditions.
PETA, took Pugs to the YODA NGO’s animal shelter for immediate veterinary care. Once the dogs regain health and recover from the trauma they have endured, they will be adopted together by a caring home.
Meet Ashar, PETA India Emergency Response Coordinator said, “PETA India worked quickly to rescue these sick and injured dogs from the filthy car and an overall grim situation. Breeders and pet stores sell pugs and other animals to anyone willing to buy them, no matter their ability to care for the animals. Only those with the time, patience, love, resources and genuine ability to care for dogs for the entire duration of their lifetimes should bring dogs into their home, and they should opt to adopt from animal shelters, never buy dogs.”
