A shocking incident has come to light in Chandigarh. A one-and-a-half-year-old boy was mauled to death by 3 stray dogs in a park in Sector 18 D.
What happened?
The incident happened yesterday when the mother of the boy who works as a maid had left the kid with one of her acquaintances running a tea shop near the park. She had asked the tea shop owner to keep an eye on her kid while he plays in the park.
Ayush, the one-and-a-half-year-old boy, a resident of Palsora, was playing along with 3 other children in the park when the stray dogs attacked them. The rest of the kids escaped successfully from the place when strays attacked, however, Ayush could not run out the dogs.
The tea vendor and his mother ran fast to help him but when they reached he was already badly bitten by the stray dogs.
A mobile PCR (Police control room vehicle) took Ayush to Government Multi-specialty Hospital in Sector 16, where he was declared brought dead.
Doctors said, “The child had died almost 20 minutes before he arrived at the hospital.”
Inspector Devinder Singh, SHO, Sector 19, said, “We have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of CrPC.”
The incident has scared and shocked residents, who feel unsafe now walking on main roads too.
Bobby, a resident of sector 18, said, “Stray dog menace is on the rise. Not only internal roads, strays have taken over the main roads too.”
Baljinder Singh Bittu, president, Federation of Sectors Welfare Association (Foswac) said,
“The municipal corporation had failed to control the dog menace. All their tall claims have fallen flat.”
