People Allegedly Barged Into Homes And Killed Sheltered Dogs In Kerala

Heights of animal cruelty and violence in Kerala! Recently, some locals allegedly barged into a home and killed a sheltered dog.

Mrs. Geetha, a native of Malappuram district in Kerala woke up to find out that her 6-month-old dog has been allegedly killed. She found her dead dog being eaten by ants, its hand was broken, eyes bulging out and stomach bloated.

Geetha said, “On the fifth of this month I had written in detail to the Panchayat explaining why killing stray dogs is not a solution and what alternatives we have. They assured they wouldn’t kill. But next day three people jumped into our compound and started beating the cage which has three dogs. They left when we asked them if they had permission to enter our homes and kill.”

The three men had allegedly warned Geetha and her family that they would “deal with the dogs when they are outside the compound.”

Threat to kill humans who shelter dogs!

“The next thing we see, the neighbors ganged up and came to threaten us. They told us to show some “humanity” (by killing dogs?). They said they would not only kill dogs but also kill humans who protect dogs if need be,” she says.

On October 6, around 150 dogs were allegedly killed in the locality and displayed in front of a school for the students to see.

Geetha has filed a complaint with the Perinthalmanna police in Malappuram, district collector and the Chief Minister.
