Not every viral moment involves a controversy. Sometimes it’s just a politician, a bicycle, and a dog with very particular taste in food.
A short video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pausing to greet a man and his pet dog during what appears to be a public outing has been making rounds on social media, and people can’t seem to get enough of it.
What the Video Shows
In the clip, Gandhi spots a man sitting on a bicycle with his dog nearby and walks over to say hello. Before reaching out to pet the animal, he asks the owner, “Yeh kaatta toh nahi?” (It doesn’t bite, does it?), which drew a fair bit of amusement online. The owner reassures him, and Gandhi then affectionately pets the dog.
The conversation doesn’t stop there. Gandhi asks what the dog likes to eat, and the owner’s answer, “Chicken chawal” (rice and chicken), got a smile out of the Congress leader.
What made the moment stick, though, was what came next. The man mentioned that he had never managed to meet Gandhi at public events because of the security arrangements that usually keep crowds at a distance. Gandhi’s response was warm and offhand: “Aap mujhe ghar bulao, main aa jaunga” (Invite me to your home and I’ll come).
