Basic Havanese dogs cost around 25,000 to 35,000 rupees. The KCI dogs cost between 35,000 and 50,000 rupees. The cost of show-quality dogs can be 50,000 to 90,000. The attributes of these variants are the same, however.

How much does a Havanese Dog In India cost to maintain them?

It does not cost you much to groom a Havanese dog. You have to brush them at least two or three times a week. In terms of bathing, once a month should be good enough. However, it is significant to clean their noses and ears regularly. The same thing is also applicable to their nails.

For exercise, you need to walk them around twice a day – even once a day would be okay in these cases. However, get them checked and vaccinated regularly and as per schedule. On average, maintaining a Havanese dog should not cost you more than 3000 or 4000 rupees a month.

Havanese Dog popularity and history

As their names would indicate, the Havanese dogs originated in Cuba. They are ancestrally related to the breed of dogs known as Bichon. Thanks to their heritage, they were obviously rather popular with the Spanish nobility that ruled that part of the world at the time.

They have remained just as popular thanks to how charming they are. During the Cuban Revolution, some dogs traveled to the USA (United States of America). Some of them were taken over there by the aristocracy members who lived there.

It was only in 1996 that the AKC (American Kennel Club) officially listed the breed. The dog was always well-liked, and a few years later, the AKC anointed it the title of the fastest-growing dog breed in the country.

The characteristics of the Havanese dog breed

These are small dogs between 22 and 29 cm in height and weigh between four and seven kilos. Even though classified as toy dogs, they are pretty sturdy. The hair on their tail is longer than the tail itself. As such, you would see it falling on their back.
