North Carolina Officers Save A Dog After Opioid Overdose

On Jan. 16, two Mooresville, North Carolina Police officers rescued a dog from an alleged opioid overdose and gave it a new lease on life.

The dog’s owners claimed that a polythene bag containing an unknown chemical was discovered at a nearby motel. The owners alerted the two officers after the canine started to shake and could no longer stand.

Officers Isenhower and Pezzeca administered a dose of Narcan to the dog, which is an intranasal medication used to counteract opioid overdoses.

The dog apparently began to improve after the first injection but did not entirely recover. It was able to walk about, leap, and behave normally after the second.

For a more thorough inspection, the dog was transferred to Denver Emergency Animal Hospital.
