63rd All Breeds Championship Show was held at the Leisure Valley, Sector 10, on 14 February, 2016. Despite a ban on sale of dogs during dog shows, various dog breeds were put up for sale during this event. A Pakistani Bully breed was up for sale for Rs 30,000, while a Pitbull was offered at Rs 20,000. Some rarely available toy dog breeds were also up for sale, such as Lhasa Apso. This toy dog breed was offered at a price range of Rs 15,000 – Rs 20,000. The sellers were not afraid of the police on the location and didn’t care about the ban of selling of dogs.
The organizer of the event, H S Aulakh, secretary of Chandigarh Kennel Club, said “we put up banners and regular announcements were made. No sale happened inside the arena and we cannot stop people from setting up shops right outside the arena.”
The occasion was kicked off by Mayor Arun Sood. There were a total of 291 entries this year in 10 different categories. 6 breeds were showcased for the first time, including the Caucasion Shepherd, which is the recent addition in the Indian Armed forces.
