A Study Confirms That Dogs Are More Affectionate Than Cats

Well, it is official! Dogs are more affectionate than cats.

Dogs shower more love on their owners as compared to cats. As per an interesting research, it has been found that dogs love humans approx. five times more than cats!

This study was a part of the BBC documentary ‘Cats v. Dogs’ that premiered last night (4th February, 2016). Paul Zak (a neuroscientist from the US) tried testing both cats and dogs for a hormone called Oxytocin (also called as love/bonding hormone). He took saliva samples from both dogs and cats, 10-minutes before their playtime session with their respective humans. After the session, he again compared the Oxytocin levels in the canine and the feline counterparts. He found out that there was a 57.2 % increase in Oxytocin levels in dogs, compared to only 12 % increase in the cats.
