About 400 puppies participated in Madras Canine Club’s All Breeds Championship Dog Show organized at YMCA on the 9th of January 2016. The significance of saving Indian breeds, for example, Rajapalayam and Chippiparai was focused at the occasion. Dog breeds such as Retrievers, Labradors, Beagles, Pugs and Grate Danes were among the popular breeds at the YMCA grounds in Nandanam.
This year, the dog show, had speciality show for a few breeds. Dog lovers, owners and enthusiasts flocked to these speciality shows in which more than fifty pooches participated.
Some rare breeds that participated this year were Wire fox Terrier, Afghan Hound, Australian Shepherd and Boerboel. Mr. Sudarsan said that the kennel club and the Madras Canine Club India had been creating awareness about Rajapalayam, Chippiparai and Mudhol Hound and contributing in promoting Indian breeds.
“The sportsmanship displayed at the canine show was great,” said Judges Timothy Thomas from Australia and William R. Umana from Costa Rica. “Specifically the Dachshunds have been great,” Said Mr. William.
