90 Dogs Found Dead With Legs Tied And Mouths Muzzled In Maharashtra

A shocking incident has come to light where around 90 stray dogs were found dead with their legs tied and mouths muzzled in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district.

A forest department official confirmed that the carcasses of the dogs were found scattered around various locations at the Girda-Savaldabara Road in the forest area. The forest official stated that they found over 100 dogs thrown on the roads at 5 different locations, out of which 90 dogs were found dead.

The incident came to light when the odor from the decomposing carcasses started reaching nearby villages and they approached the police. The police then informed the forest department. They both reached the spot and found some dogs alive. They freed those dogs and took a few for treatment.

Case Registered

A case has been registered under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against unidentified persons for the mass killing of stray dogs. The complaint was lodged by a forest guard.

The official cause of the death has not been confirmed yet and results from the postmortem are awaited to make a conclusive report.

The police are investigating the case and believe that the stray dogs were picked from the city, killed and then dumped in the forest area. The police are questioning the dog catchers in the city to solve this case.
