Dog Beaten At Mumbai’s Worli Building Passes Away

After fighting for life for 10 days, Worli’s stray dog “Lucky” passed away today!

Lucky was mercilessly beaten by two security guards for trying to take shelter in a Worli’s society building during heavy rains. Many Mumbai citizens and renowned celebrities came forward to condemn the act.

Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor went on social media voicing their concern. Many other celebrities like John Abraham, Alia Bhat, and politician Aaditya Thackeray also voiced their concern over animal cruelty on social media channels. They strongly condemned the merciless beating of the stray dog who was just trying to get some cover during the heavy rains.

The dog was in a coma for the past few days. While he was struggling for his life, many Mumbai citizens and celebrities came forward to protest in front of the society building where Lucky was beaten.

R.I.P Lucky

Sadly the vets at Bombay Animal Rights couldn’t save Lucky and he passed on today morning. After crashing around 9:20 am, the vets tried to revive him, but his heart gave out. Lucky was declared dead at 10:50 am.

The news was confirmed by Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma via her Instagram story.

Anushka further added in her story that there should be stricter laws against animal cruelty.

An FIR was lodged against Mr. Bhatia, the resident who instructed the watchmen to beat the dog. There is also an online petition created by Alia Bhatt, she brought the matter into PETA’s notice as well.

A crowdfunding campaign was set up for Lucky’s treatment. Anushka in an official statement released via her Instagram story told people to stop sending donations for Lucky’s treatment as he is no more.

An official statement was released by Maharashtra State Animal Welfare Board. Meet Ashar, honorary advisor to the board said,

“It is very sad that Lucky could not survive the attack. We all must seek better animal rights laws to prevent such atrocities. May Lucky’s soul eternally rest in peace.”
