Service Dog Receives an Honorary Diploma from Clarkson University, NY

Brittany Hawley’s service dog named Griffin was recently been given an Honorary Diploma alongside Brittany from Clarkson University for being the best service dog ever.

Griffin has always been by her side, from fetching her cellphone to assisting patients as part of Brittany’s internship. So the board of trustees of the Potsdam, NY, deemed it fit to honor Griffin alongside Hawley who as honored for receiving her master’s degree in occupational therapy.

“I pushed for him to graduate from Day One. He did everything I did,” said Hawley.

The 4-year-old golden retriever was honored during the recognition ceremony at Clarkson University. He was honored for demonstrating extraordinary effort, steadfast commitment and diligent dedication towards well-being and success of Hawley.

Brittany is from North Carolina and uses a wheelchair due to chronic pain. Griffin is her service dog who does most of the physical tasks for her such as opening doors, turning lights on, bringing her items etc. Most importantly, Griffin helps Hawley by comforting her through relentless and severe pain that causes anxiety and depression.
