Recently, a pet dog named Balew (Pit bull-Labrador mix), accidently shot his 51-year-old owner while playing with him on a couch in Iowa, US.
The incident took place on Wednesday (May 9, 2018) when Remme, the dog’s owner, was playing with him. Remme owns a gun which he carries in a band under his bib overalls. Balew, jumped the safety one time and then managed to get his toes right into the trigger guard, while playing with the owner on the couch.
“It has a trigger safety as well as a thumb safety, and he managed to hit both of them, and it discharged and went into my leg. Did no major damage to anything,” Remme said.
The gun owner did not immediately felt the shot in his leg, but instead felt a painful burn on his stomach. He noticed his pant leg starting to stain red with blood. This is when he realized the bullet had struck one of his legs. The damage wasn’t major as he was released from the hospital that same afternoon.
Remmy said that after the accidental shot, Balew became upset.
“The dog’s a big wuss. The poor dog laid down beside me and cried, because he thought he was in trouble for doing something wrong. He’s a pit-lab mix. He’s afraid of the dark, he’s afraid of water.”
