An incident of dog mix-up has come to light just a day after a 10-month-old French bulldog died during a United Airlines flight from Houston to New York, after being stored in an overhead bin.
United Airlines has launched an investigation after it mixed up between two pet dogs, flying both to the wrong destinations.
What happened?
A 10-year-old German shepherd owned by an American family was meant to be flown to US’ Kansas City but was put on a Japan-bound flight. The family received a Great Dane that was supposed to be on the Japan flight.
Kara Swindle and her family were moving from Oregon to Wichita, Kansas and paid for their 10-year-old German shepherd, Irgo, to fly in the cargo area of a United flight. However, when Swindle and her family arrived at a United Airlines cargo facility Tuesday to pick up their dog, they found a Great Dane instead and discovered Irgo had been sent to Japan.
Ms. Swindle discovered the dog had been put on a flight to Japan, where the Great Dane was supposed to go. After the incident, airline officials in Japan put Irgo on a flight back to Kansas City. It was not clear when he would arrive home.

United Airlines said in a statement,
“An error occurred during connections in Denver for two pets sent to the wrong destinations. We have notified our customers that their pets have arrived safely and will arrange to return the pets to them as soon as possible. We apologize for this mistake and are following up with the vendor kennel where they were kept overnight to understand what happened.”
